Student Support Grants Program

The Virginia Tech Student Support Grants Program is offered each spring to qualified applicants. The initiative is designed to improve the retention and graduation rates of the undergraduate student population and to contribute to the development of student leaders on campus. There are three categories of grants available: the Presidential Enrichment Campus Grant Student Assistant, Center for Academic Enrichment & Excellence Student Assistant, and Student Support Leadership Grant. The grant is a competitive award ranging from $1,200 - $1,500 per year. Students must submit an application , recommendation from a faculty member, and essay to be considered for the Grant.

  Eligibility Criteria:

  • Full-time Virginia Tech undergraduate students
  • Cumulative GPA of at least 2.5
  • US citizenship
  • Completed Free Application for Federal Student Aid on file
  • Knowledge of inclusive and supportive activities on campus
  • Effective oral and written skills
  • Willingness to assist undergraduate students
  • Demonstrated leadership skills

Applications for the grant are received February 1 through the end of March each year. A subcommittee reviews applications in early April and selects semi-finalists for interviews. Applicants will be notified of preliminary decisions the first week of May based upon the strength of their application packet and interview; these preliminary decisions are pending until final grades are received and reviewed. Notification of a formal offer will be forwarded to students' permanent address and awards will be posted to financial aid accounts in early June.
