The framework is based on a multicultural competency model that focuses on awareness, knowledge and skills. | SERVICE OPPORTUNITIES | |
Students will be encouraged to participate in a number of diversity service learning efforts. This provides students with the opportunity to work for organizations addressing needs of broadly defined minority groups. This effort will happen in partnership with the Service Learning Center. |

| LEADERSHIP ROLE IN ORGANIZATIONS | |
| Involvement in activities is a vital component to the college experience. We encourage students to be involved and to take leadership roles in the wide variety of clubs and organizations at Virginia Tech. This area of leadership involves taking a leadership role in planning and implementing a diversity related event. | |
| AWARENESS EVENTS | |
Students are encouraged to attend various events that deal with issues of diversity and multicultural issues. These can include forums, workshops, seminars, lectures, presentations, concerts, etc. The purpose of this attendance is to expose students to different perspectives on diversity and multicultural issues. |
